Photo Gallery:Photo Study: Photography as Art and Story/Melissa Hamilton/Winter Sunset: Plainfield, Illinois


In some locations, the sunsets can be incredible in Plainfield, Illinois.  The vast open sky allows you to view the lovely cloud formations and colors.  Some dusks will offer a wide range of color.  This particular evening offered shades of burnt gold, navy, gray, and orange. 

I decided to take the photos in intervals to capture the sunset.  The changes in the sky are subtle.  As the light fades from the sky, so does our ability to see the clouds.

Also, take note of the last two photos.  A plane's icy tail is seen in the right quadrant of the photo.  I waited for the plane to come into my view finder.  By this time, the disappearing sun ushered in the cold.  After that last photo, it was time to get myself a warm cup of decaf!
