Romantic Memoirs:

What Do We Say?

Avq50067.jpg (17618 bytes)

You don't have to be a professional writer or poet to say what is in your heart.  We can help you unlock the words.   Here are some ideas to get you started.

What kind of Online Romantic Memoir do we want to do?

Before you begin, think about what you want to include in your Online Romantic Memoir.

Courtship/Dating:  Share how you met, events, and activities you shared and when he "popped" the question.  When did you know you wanted to marry each other?

The Wedding Day:  Description of your wedding day.  Include the date, where you were married, how you both felt, and details about your reception.

A Loving Tribute:  Compose a loving tribute to your special romance.  Include a brief paragraph written by each of you.  Conclude with a favorite poem or title of "your" song.

Keep in mind, you can mix it up by including a comment or two about every category listed above.  Incorporate statements from friends and family about your relationship.  What matters is that you put into words what rests in your heart.

Outline, Draft and Final

You may find it helpful to outline what you want to say in your Online Romantic Memoir.  Divide your write up into three main sections:

Opening
Body
Closing

In the opening, you could include your first names, when you married, and general comments about how you feel about friends, family, and your relationship.

The body of your composition might include details about how you met, what you enjoy doing together, and the day you decided to be married.

The closing is your opportunity to tie your write up together.  If you want to keep it really simple, write "We love each other very much."  Sometimes the simplest statement tells it all!

Once you have outlined your ideas, write your first draft.  Walk away from your composition to let the words settle on the page.  Return to it a day or two later.  Make your final changes.

Tools for you to use when writing your Romantic Memoir

There are a few tricks to finding the right words.

Thesaurus:  Roget's Thesaurus is a fabulous tool when you write!  It can help you pick other words that have a similar definition.

Example:  "Love":  fondness, liking, desire, admiration, heart, passion

If you don't have a Thesaurus, purchase a paperback version at your local bookstore.  It is an invaluable tool!

Poetry & Quotations:  Borrow from the artist his/her words of love.  Make sure and identify the author.  The artist's words can be a delightful compliment to your own.

The reference section of the bookstore, the library, and the Internet will provide you all the resources you will ever need.
