Weddings

These group of photographs depict couples posing for their wedding photo. Each provide a story that has melted into the past, but the day of their joining have lasted through the decades.

Although the original photograph is slightly faded, we can still make out some wonderful detail in the bride's dress and veil.

The bride's bodice and skirt is lined with dozens of small buttons or beading. She is wearing a flower on her bodice and against her throat.  This particular dress uniquely shows the effect of a corset.  Notice how tightly cinched her waist appears.

Her veil is quite beautiful, flowing gracefully to the floor.  Flowers also adorn the crown of the bride's head where the veil rests.

Her husband sits straight as an arrow with his wife's hand resting on his shoulder.  His vest peaks from behind the folds of his coat.  He is sporting a full/bushy mustache popular during this time period.

This is a later period photograph than the couple depicted above.  Notice the bride's dress is slightly shorter, resting just below the ankle.20thcouplewedding1.jpg (12861 bytes)

This photograph provides a very detailed example of the bride's attire and flowers. The sleeves are narrow with ribbing and lace at the wrists and collar area.  This bride, too, has a long veil which reaches to the hem of her dress.  Flowers adorn her crown and bodice.

Her husband is smartly dressed in a black suit and shined shoes. Matching flowers are neatly in place on his lapel.

This is a marvelous photograph from the first half of the 20th century.  The picture is brimming with detail.

The bride is wearing a simple dress, yet it's simplicity is enhanced by the lovely shear veil she wears.  Lace and appliqué work adorn the bodice, sleeves and a portion of the dress.  The bride's theme of roses in her bouquet continue in the boutonniere on her husband's lapel.

The identity of the couple in the back are unknown.  However, they are likely the Best Man and Maid of Honor.
