The Gift of Giving:
Thoughtful Selection of a Tangible Gift

Certainly, the giving of a tangible gift can be a most rewarding gesture.  The opportunity to present a friend or loved one with a gift is as varied as the types of items given.

One of the benefits of giving tangible gifts is the joy of selecting it.  Whether it is for a special occasion (birthday, anniversary, graduation, or promotion) or for no reason at all, selecting a gift should be from the heart.

What Do I Get?

Sometimes shopping for a gift can be super easy.  The recipient may have numerous interests and hobbies that make selection a snap.  On the other hand, other give receivers can be a nightmare to shop for.  Have you ever gone looking for a gift for someone who has everything?  How about the individual who has no hobbies and no particular interests.  This scenario is where you have to either get creative or resign yourself to dinner and gift certificates.

Recommendation for Gift Ideas

For those of you who have a difficult time finding a gift for a recipient, keep your ears and eyes open at all times.  Your gift recipient is likely to provide clues from time to time on gifts.  If your husband complains that "I never have the right tools," this could be your clue to purchase hand tools for his next birthday.

Gift receivers with varied interests and hobbies are easy to shop for.  Throughout the year, take notice of unique gifts that meet the interests of your loved one or friend.  It's surprising how often the best gifts we find are those we aren't looking for.

It Truly is the Thought That Counts

Whether your gift recipient is easy to shop for or not, keep in mind that it truly is the thought that counts.  When you present your gifts, take that moment to let the person know how much you care.  Many times, the words can be as special as the gift.
