The Victorian period began at the commencement of Queen Ciy50410.jpg (19776 bytes)Victoria's reign (June 1837) and ended at her death in January 1901.  The Victorians experienced tremendous changes in the economic, social, cultural and political arena during their age.

Writer and Victorian history expert Glenda Jackson discovered oilcloth diaries beneath a pile of old books and pamphlets in the stall of a flea market vendor.  Who were the authors? Mathilde Potter, age 16, of Philadelphia, who penned the 1896 diary and her older sister, Emily, who penned the 1905 diary.  Glenda shares her fascinating find in her article, A Life Well Traveled.
