Historical
Review by Donna DeFalco

The Tiger & the Tomb
by Bonnie Vanak
www.bonnievanak.com
Dorchester, December 2003

Lady Katherine Smithfield never thought she would be a thief, but to save her father's life she must steal a map that leads to treasure buried deep in the Egyptian desert. What Katherine doesn't know is the man from whom she has to steal the map is none other than Ramses, the one called the warrior of love.

This warrior is also a member of the elite group called the Khamsin, sworn to protect the tombs and closely guarded secrets of ancient Egypt. Torn between her dual heritage of Egyptian and English, she respects the tombs of the dead, but she must save her father's life no matter what the cost. When Katherine's and Ramses' paths ultimately cross, their relationship burns as hot as the desert sun.

Set at the turn of the last century when the sun never set on the British Empire, the book takes a look at the Egyptians' viewpoint of outsiders who were plundering the tombs of ancient kings and queens. Sprinkled with earthy humor and set in an exotic locale, The Tiger and the Tomb will warm you up on even the coldest nights.
