Travel - In Your Backyard

The Pumpkin Patch
Plainfield, Illinois

Pumpkins.jpg (70114 bytes)If you have not had the opportunity to visit a pumpkin patch, I highly encourage you to do so.

I had a grand time walking through the rows upon rows of pumpkins.  Each pumpkin had a unique face, a special texture, a beautiful shade of orange.  The smell of Fall was in the air.  The vivid blue sky and sunshine created the perfect weather for our outing.

Pumpkin Patch wagon.jpg (70828 bytes)Visitors begin by locating one of the wagons scattered about the farm.  You need a wagon.  Pumpkins are surprisingly heavy!  Inside, we could also purchase many different vegetables and Amish jams.

Fall Trees Pumpkin Patch.jpg (70023 bytes)I took a few moments to wander about the farm.  This particular farm also grew trees.  This photo simply can not capture the richness of the colors of the day.  The reds just popped!

Melissa Pumpkin Patch 10 2004 II.JPG (61012 bytes)This is me!  I liked the contrast of orange.  As you can see, the sunshine was so bright, I couldn't look at the camera!

As those of you who enjoy snapping photos know, exploring and discovering interesting subjects is a joy.  The shed on the left was located at the back section of the pumpkin patch.  I would have loved taking this picture in the early morning or late in the afternoon when shadows are deepest.

The photo on the right presents a wonderful contrast of color and texture.  The blue sky was so vivid as a backdrop to the fading, weather worn wood of the building.
