The bedrooms of the Regency were a collection of diverse furniture and style. The types of furniture that made up a Regency bedroom consisted of a bed, washstand, wardrobe, chair, full-length mirror, and maybe a writing desk. It would not be until the Victorian period that furniture and décor were designed to match.
The Victorian bedroom was viewed as a "sanctuary" as families expanded and the middle class could afford to hire servants. The bedroom was the location for time to contemplate, appreciate privacy from servants’ eyes, and enjoy the comforts of one’s home.
