"Summer Fun with Friends"
Of course, you can not use the excuse, "I don't have time.". It's so important that you make the time. And, the easiest way to do it to to plan ahead with a mini-get together! A mini-get together requires that you ignore worrying about a clean house, fancy food, or formal invitations. What matters is coming together to embrace simple food and chit chat. You already know how to throw a mini-get together in full swing. Here are a few simple reminders to get you started! __________________________________
The last thing any of us need is complications, particularly with our fast-paced summer schedules. The most enjoyable mini-get together is one that is simple. Invite a couple of your friends or neighbors over for the standard barbeque. Except this time have everyone bring something. The host supplies the main course (barbequed item), another the beverages, another dessert, the other munchies. We also recommend paper
everything! Remember - this is about simple so you want as little clean up
as possible.
You may be accustomed to tuning out your kids, but your friends aren't. Don't put a damper on your mini-get together with cranky kids.
If your host doesn't have outdoor toys, bring some of your own. Children are amazing at keeping occupied when there is a lot to do. Books, balls, sandbox, bubble makers, croquet (for the older children), sandbag toss, building blocks, etc. Serving fruit is always a winner at a mini-get together. Why? Because there is always someone watching their weight. A little fruit provides options for those avoiding dessert delicacies. RULE #4: Say "cheese" With the dawn of the digital age, taking photographs has never been easier. It can be a lot of fun snapping a few pictures to reflect upon pleasant memories. Kids are always ready to smile. We tend to take every day moments for granted. You'll appreciate the photos years down the road! RULE #5: Relax and Enjoy the Time It's important to just sit back and "smell the roses." For goodness sake, do it. Each day is a gift, and a mini-get together gives you the chance to simply enjoy the day. Now you are ready to plan your mini-get together. Don't wait another minute. Pick up the phone, send an e-mail, or walk next door and make the plans. Never put off what you can do today and have fun!
