"Summer Fun & Your Backyard"

You would be surprised of the many beauties that literally are just beyond your doorstep.  In fact, upon close inspection, you could spend quite a long time wandering about your backyard.

Indeed, one afternoon in my sister's backyard, I discovered a world of detail beneath my nose.  The day was warm, the sun brightly shining overhead.  While lounging about waiting for the burgers to barbeque and sipping on a refreshment, I opened my camera bag.

As I began to meander within a thirty feet radius, it was in the detail that I found a new world open before me.  Below is a sampling of what I experienced.

Keep in mind it was a warm summer day.  This photo is filled with a myriad of details.  Note the red of the liquid in the glass.  Did you notice the shadow the glass makes against the glass table?  What of the vivid blue sky?

When taking a photograph, it is always important to notice the details. It is in the detail that images breathe.

Brick and Shadows.JPG (60937 bytes)

I liked this photo.  The shadows are so "hard".  The geometric pattern of the brick was also compelling.

Dog Bone by Table.JPG (70159 bytes)Nothing fancy here, but I enjoyed viewing the curve of the patio.  This section of the patio looks cool and refreshing, contrasting with the strong sun just beyond.

Bug on Glass Table.JPG (40440 bytes)The subject is a decorative bug on a table.  On closer inspection, two details can be noted.  First, the texture of the beveled glass.  Second, the blue reflected against the table - it is the sky.

Sandbox.JPG (49398 bytes)My niece loves her sandbox.  While occupied with other activity, I snapped several photos of the sandbox.

This photo is brimming with detail: shadow, texture of the sand, the colander.  I appreciate this photo for its simplicity, yet it filled with detail.

Sandbox Toys.JPG (44272 bytes)Once again, the sandbox offers an interesting subject.  The colors of the toys are marvelous.  Every item is exactly how they were left - capturing forgotten fun at that moment.
