Traveling is the best way I know to experience life. As a travel writer and the editor-in-chief of Insider Magazine, I have found that travel is not only a passion, but an obsession for me. As a child I would read book after book about England and Scotland and Africa and South America and finally one day I was able to visit these destinations. It was with awe and wonder that I obtained my first passport - receiving my first stamp (in Ecuador) and smiling knowingly to myself that this was just the beginning.

I cherish my passport and my ability to travel like a mother cherishes her children. I enjoy the thrill of traveling to unknown destinations and to destinations that people have never heard of before. I enjoy spreading the word about "the best place to travel" and I enjoy meeting the local people and becoming a part of their culture if only for a snapshot moment in time.

The lessons I have learned while on the road are as priceless as the gifts and presents from each location. Eventually, I have learned that we are all the same after all, no matter where a person lives or works or plays - humans all have the same pride of home, gift of love and need for adventure.

My need for adventure takes me to airports where I dread the long lines and cranky passengers, but it's always worth it to know that in less than 24 hours I can be anywhere in the world and enjoying a new experience in time.

Since no one can travel 24/7, I also have another romantic job that keeps me busy when home in LA. I interview celebrities and entertainers. You never know what to expect when you meet up with someone for an interview, but here are a few of the highlights from the last year or so that might be good reading in addition to my travel.

Rita's First Romance Novel - "Angel's Destiny"

I recently published my first romantic novel too, "Angel’s Destiny" (2006).   This was a long time coming as the book started out as a screenplay that was optioned in Hollywood.

The story is about a ne’er do well angel who has been trying to get a man and a woman named Lauri and Brian together for the past 300 years. While it is a love story about Lauri and Brian, we also learn about love on many different levels as well. Life is too short to take even one minute for granted and I was reminded of that recently when my best friend since first grade gave me this advice, "Love like you have never loved before and forget about all the past hurts, don’t bring them into the experience." It was the best advice anyone has ever given me and it can go for anything that we do in life – love, work or in my case, travel. Bring a fresh passion to everything and remember we all make our own experiences everyday so make them the best they can be.

You can check out Rita's book at www.publishamerica.com/bookstore/.  Type "Angel's Destiny" in the "Search" box and link directly to her book.
