Bookselling
Booksignings:
We should prepare for our booksignings with equal care. After all, we will be meeting our readers with the anticipation that they will purchase our book(s). To deliver an enjoyable and profitable evening, you as the author need to pre-prep for your booksigning. There are 3 steps you need to follow to pre-prep for your booksigning--- STEP 1: Your booksignings/appearances & Your Web-site
Include the date, time, and location of your booksignings. Also, consider adding a few comments regarding your presentation at each event. An example would be if you are going to present a short talk on "Creating 3-Dimensional Heroes." Take this space to write a sentence or two about your talk. This information will be an added inducement for guests to attend your booksigning. Incorporate Photographs Discuss with your webmaster about blending several photos from your booksignings into your booksigning/appearance page. This can be particularly important for readers who can not attend your booksignings in person. Photos uploaded on your web-site gives your readers a front seat to your booksigning. Isn't the Internet wonderful!
The one mistake that many authors make is not preparing a talk or presentation for their appearance. Speaking off the top of your head can lead to a disjointed, unorganized program. If an author does not maintain control of the presentation, guests can become bored or talkative guests can literally take over the discussion, leading the group in unwanted directions. An organized, well thought presentation will ensure your booksigning is an enjoyable experience for all participants. You should prepare your presentation with these three elements in mind: *Introduce yourself to your guests *Provide a short discussion on a topic of interest *Motivate readers to purchase your book Consider preparing a handout for your topic portion of the presentation. Another option is to direct guests to your web-site for additional information on the topic. This strategy can be an effective cross-selling tool. Find every opportunity for readers to visit your web-site. Keep in mind. Your goal as an author is this: leave the guests wanting more!
