Thought of the Week: October 13, 2002

Principle #2Make time for relaxing

"You've got to be kidding?"

No.  We are not joshing you!  The challenge for you today is taking the time to relax.  We don't mean collapsing on the couch and watching television.  Although this may be a periodic alternative, particularly if it's a program that will enhance your life, we are referring to activities that will calm your nerves and open your mind to positive reinforcement!

Relaxing for Free

We would like to suggest that you consider activities that are free and interactive.  (Television in general is a passive activity).  We have discussed the concept of "stealing a moment" to enjoy life. (July 7, 2002)  Consider these free activities that can be both relaxing and calming to your spirit and soul.

Take the dog for a walk - ALONE At the office, take lunch by YOURSELF at least 2 days a week. Window shop, walk, read, or simply find a bench to warm.
Take the time to read in the bathroom.  (Early a.m. or late p.m. so you are not interrupted) Sit and look out a window of your home for 5 minutes.  If the weather is pleasant, open the window. Watch, listen, and smell.  There is a world that passes outside our window that we never stop to notice!
Purchase a CD that is simply the sound of crashing waves or a rain storm.  Play it while you drive. Ever noticed your dog laying in the sun by the sliding glass door?  Have you ever tried it?  Do it some time and you'll discover why your dog does it every day.

Make the Time

The only person who can make change is you.  The irony is that making the time to relax will actually enhance your romantic journey.  Truly, life is about moments, and we should make the time to appreciate it and relax!
