Travel - In Your Backyard

Oakbrook Center
Oakbrook, Illinois

www.oakbrookcenter.com

There are shopping malls located everywhere throughout the United States.  The mall that is practically in my backyard is the Oakbrook Center Shopping Mall located in Oakbrook, Illinois.

Yes.  There are numerous shops to browse.  True.  There are wonderful restaurants and specialty stores to stop and purchase a delicious hot chocolate (with whipped cream).

However, the visual beauty that the staff creates with flowers, trees, and the water fountains is a scene to behold.  Spring and summer is a time to relish the gift of color and variety.  When Christmas time comes, trees are decorated with a million lights and sparkly decor.

If you are ever in the Chicagoland area, take the opportunity to visit the Oakbrook Center Shopping Mall.  As outdoor malls go, it is a lovely visit.

Below are thumbnail photos I took in the spring.  For a closer look, simply click the photo.

The flowers, fountains, and budding trees make any location a visual feast.  I particularly enjoy finding a bench near one of the fountains and allow myself to soak up the peaceful surroundings.

Little children love to run around this fountain! With their small figures dashing around the circle, their laughter and cheerful chatter always brings a smile to those who observe them.

The gentle, relaxing sound of water can be hear from early Spring to early Fall.
