The best part about "Night Fever," a Harlequin Blaze romance, is not the steamy sex, though there's a phone sex scene that will have you running to the freezer for an ice pack. The best part is the characters whose lives are filled in with deft brushstrokes creating likable people who could step out of the pages of the book and into real life.

Dr. Layla Hollister is a workaholic who holds down a traditional day job as a general practitioner in a large metropolitan clinic. At night, she follows her heart and moonlights for long hours at a free clinic helping underprivileged families. With all work and no play, Dr. Hollister is becoming a very dull woman, but when she meets a sexy stranger in a bar and they share a long, passionate kiss, sparks begin to fly.

The flame dulls, however, when she finds that the stranger is none other than her new boss, a renowned plastic surgeon with the ironic name of Dr. Sam Lovejoy. Lovejoy wants to continue the torrid relationship, but Layla is not sure she wants to bare it all for a man who has sculpted hundreds of women's bodies.

This is the first hot novel in the "Kiss and Tell" miniseries written by husband and wife team Lori and Tony Karayianni. The next two books will feature Layla's friends, Reilly Cudowski and Mallory Hunt.
