Michelle Larks Topic Discussed:
I don't know if writing was so much inspiration, or if I was born with the writing bug. I love to read, and have been writing since I was in third, or fourth grade. Lessons to other readers: I would just tell them, it they believe in the project, to stick with it. Writing is a tough field, but then when I meet people who've read my books, they offer encouragement, and inspire me to continue, so I do. You started your own publishing company in May of 2005 - F&M Enterprises. Share with us what you will be publishing and why you decided to start your company. I started my publishing company, F&M Enterprises, in May of 2005 as a
method to learn the ends and outs of the business as it relates to writing. So
far, I've self-published one book, Crisis Mode. My goal is eventually to help
other authors/poets realize their dreams and publish their works. What have you found most beneficial in electronic publishing? E-publishing is a new format for me, and I've found doing so helps hold down publishing costs. Most of my readers are use to holding a physical book in their hand, so I'm introducing them to new technology in the future. What words of advice would you give a writer/reader who wants to start a publishing company? I would advise a writer or reader that owning a publishing company is demanding work because you're wearing many hats to bring your project to fruition. But it's rewarding because you can look at a finished project and say I did it. The owner also reaps more financial rewards, they will end up with a larger share of money, not just royalties, and that is a bonus for new writers.
