Memoirs
Mercedes Plans
Her Wedding
Weddings
can be exciting. Weddings can be exasperating.
A wedding is an important event for
which many hours are spent dreaming, planning, and negotiating. Mercedes
and her fiancé have begun to shape the plans for their special day. Like many modern day weddings in the United States, the couple are
planning the event on their own.
Mercedes has submitted a series of vignettes
that will take you along their adventure of wedding planning. We think you
will enjoy sharing the experience.

Something from Nothing (Article #1)

and getting more pets!
Location, Location, Location
(Article #2)
Wedding planning takes an unexpected turn - South!
Loss (Article #3)
A thoughtful perspective about the losses
that a bride can experience as she prepares for her wedding.
The Beat Goes On (Article #4)
Plans for the big day continue. Location, the officiant, rings, perhaps a
photographer, and still working on the cake!

A Note
from Mercedes
"Growing up, I was like Monica on "Friends". I had a
scrapbook of how my wedding would be, down to the last detail; all I
needed was the Groom. Imagine my surprise/horror/frustration when I found
out that the wedding of my dreams would only be possible if I married the
Sultan of Brunei! I wrote these pieces, and will write more as I progress,
to help others know that weddings in the real world are not exactly like
you might dream. Still, although I love my fiancé, if the Sultan came a-knockin'........:-)
