Contemporary Men in Kilts
Iain MacLaren is a mystery fan, whose grown sons sent him to the conference as a gift. Kathie extends her European vacation when she accepts Iain's invitation to stay with him on his sheep farm in Scotland. She expects the rolling hills and beauty of the Scottish hillside, but what she doesn't expect is a beautiful, pushy and vicious neighbor, a surly housekeeper and one of Iain's sons who instantly dislikes her. In some ways, "Men in Kilts" is like a book and a sequel rolled into one. In the first part of the book, Kathie is perhaps the whiniest heroine I've seen since the television show "thirtysomething" left the air. After she finally, permanently gets her man, she settles down. The second part of the book that leads up to the happy ending is rich with details about the farm and both their families. You'll just love Kathie's Aunt Amber, the fan dancer, who's a hoot. In the end, Kathie helps to solve a mystery that is threatening the farm's livelihood. She is, after all, a mystery writer. And you'll never wonder again, what those Scottish men wear under their kilts!
