Meet Kaye Hatfield

Hatfield’s accomplishments include novice historian and researcher, as well as a published writer on two websites. She is an avid reader and public speaker. Her reading and speaking focuses on romance - both historical and contemporary. With her knowledge of romance books and authors, she is able to recommend books depicting numerous historical events and time periods. This extends to both American and international history. She enjoys communicating with the authors and analyzing their methods of research and attainment of inspiration for their novels.

Hatfield has done extensive research on the American Civil War focusing on women and their important role in this War. As a result of her research she has written factual articles on Varina Howell Davis, First Lady of the Confederacy and Rose O’Neal Greenhow, well-known Confederate spy.

She has also done considerable research on the life of Confederate General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. Her research included reading books on his life and visiting the site of his fatal wounding and death. Her composition on his life includes how he acquired his famous moniker, his time as an instructor at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) and his legendary role in the American Civil War. Also included in her Civil War articles published on RomanceEverAfter.com, are captions of the Battle of First Bull Run/Manassas, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg.

Hatfield’s interest in history and historical romance novels led her to London to view, photograph and research several historical sites mentioned time and again in romance novels centering on London and surrounding areas. Her exploration and articles on London extend from St. James Park, The Thames River, Newgate Prison site, water steps and the famous Dover Castle.

As well as her work with RomanceEverAfter.com, she has reviewed books for the romance website entitled "Romance and Friends." One of Kaye’s major goals is to create an interest in history through historical romance novels. Readers of this genre will gain an understanding of the many "growing pains" countries and nations have endured. The romance portion of the books will educate the readers not only on passion and love experienced by the characters, but also on how their lives were influenced and affected by the events happening in their particular historical setting.

Kaye is a descendent of the both the Hatfields and McCoys and is interested in researching the family backgrounds and the lives of the participants in the famous Hatfield McCoy Feud.
