Travel - In Your Backyard

"Long Grove: The Place for Culture & Shopping"
Long Grove, Illinois

http://www.longgroveonline.com

The historic village of Long Grove dates back to the 1800s.  Well-known to Chicagoland locals, Long Grove is the place to visit the many shops, eateries, and art gallery for a splendid day outing.

We were fortunate to have sunshine and comfortable temperatures when we visited.  Our outing started by a stop to one of the shops for a cup of flavored coffee.

Warning!  Wear comfortable shoes because you will want to enter every shop before you call it a day.  Enjoy!

One of the benefits of browsing the shops of Long Grove are the lovely flowers strewn about the area.  The tulips were in full bloom during our visit.

LongGroveshop2.JPG (42064 bytes)Here is the shop where we commenced our outing with a delicious cup of flavored coffee.  Just to the right are several benches where visitors can soak up sun and atmosphere.  We chatted with several ladies before we went on our way.  Quite a friendly town!

LongGroverestaurant.JPG (36531 bytes)We stopped and had lunch here.  (A listing of places to eat can be referred to at the Long Grove web-site link above).  The restaurant serves a delicious buffet.  We particularly liked the peach flavored lemonade.  Refreshing!

As shoppers know, a periodic rest is important to keep your strength up.  A good place to rest your weary feet is in the courtyard near the Irish shop.  While we soaked up the sun and nibbled on freshly baked cookies, we listened to the melodies of Irish music.
