from Silhouette, "Dead Calm". Topics Discussed *Lindsay discusses her new
book Dead Calm.
DEAD CALM is a really special book for me. It's the 17th book I've done for
Silhouette, and it's a story of a strong woman, Sophie Brennan, and an equally
strong, stubborn southerner, Judah Brought together by Judah's case, a baby abandoned in the manger of one of the local churches, and by Sophie's ER beating victim, Judah and Sophie find that the sizzle that had begun when they first met, a year ago, blazes into a fire. And now they're caught by the tension in a town torn apart by violence. Just as the town has its undercurrent, so, too, do Judah and Sophie. The whole grudges and hostilities are still there. The old reasons why they could never be together still exist. Yet...at the deepest level, two souls cry out for each other. A tiny scrap of an angel holds the key. If Judah and Sophie can only take a leap of faith. What do you enjoy about writing for Silhouette? I love the people I work with. The people at Silhouette have truly been supportive and encouraging of my work. I'm immensely grateful to them. I also like the fact that category allows me to try different varieties of stories and structures. I've written for the IM line, the Romance line, and for the departed Shadows line. That opportunity has been incredibly valuable. What words of advice would you give to a writer entering the business of romance writing?Oh, if you want to write, you have to love what you're going to write about. You have to read and read and read in the genre--and love it. I would also suggest getting together with other like minded people and writing on a regular, structured basis. Whether your story sells right away or not, the act of writing regularly, immersing yourself in the process of storytelling, strengthens your writing muscles and prepares you for the marathon of being a published author. And I'd recommend focusing on everything positive in your life that you can. Every day. That energy will fuel your writing, will fuel you on the darker days.
