Laura Renken Interview

Laura_Renken.JPG (12018 bytes)What do you find romantic?

I find so many things romantic. First of all, I can’t imagine not spending the rest of my life with my hubby of 24 years. We have great fun together. I love to travel with him when I research historical places. He is patient with my writing schedule. I find that especially romantic.  I love the sunrise, the sunset, mountains, crystal lakes and huge thunderstorms. The louder the thunder the more romantic! Probably comes from the days when my husband flew jets in the Marine Corps and we used to live under their flight path in Hawaii. Very loud!!!!

Why do you like reading and writing romance?

I like to think of reading and writing romance like riding an awesome roller coaster. A good romance novel will take you over the dips and turns and down the stretch, leaving you breathless when you finally pull into the gate. I feel that way after I finish every book I write. I hope my readers feel that way when they read my stories.

Share information about some of your books.

I write under two names. Autumn Star is my Leisure western romance pseudonym. Autumn Star was a July 2001 release, about a hardened lawman with no patience for the gentler things in life. He meets his match in an idealist who refuses to be doomed in a man’s world.

Night Shadow was my Berkley/Seduction book and was released in September 2001. Night Shadow is about a 17th century scapegrace nobleman with a need to forget his past. But when he loses his heart to the beautiful Spanish crusader whose family has captured him, he becomes the notorious, Night Shadow, to save those who are closest to him. Also for those who read My Lord Pirate, this is Marcus Drake’s, the brother’s story.

Heart of the Condor was released in 2002.  USA best selling author Katherine Sutcliffe said Heart of the Condor is "A finely crafted book: sensual, emotional, engrossing. Bravo.”

What are your three favorite bookmarks (Web sites)?

My first site is www.Dogpile.com because from there I can find anything I want on the web. For personal pleasure I like the Romance and Friends Web site www.romanceandfriends.com as well as www.romantictimes.com
