In Your Backyard- Kline Creek Farm/Saturday Visit

One thing I have learned from visiting the Kline Creek Farm living museum is that 1890s farm life was tough work!  Can you imagine chopping all that wood pictured above?  How about hand picking fruit from a tree?

There are many learning experiences accessible to the visitor.  On our Saturday visit, a new calf was sleeping beneath the sunshine.  Also, young museum volunteers were grinding corn in the barn.  And, most fun was visiting the chicken coup and watching the little children interact in the environment. The museum is a great place for children to visit!

The Bench Kline Creek Farm.JPG (63726 bytes)This was my last photo of the day.  The wooden bench sat nestled amid the grass at the end of the road.  I think perhaps it was there for weary walkers after a visit to the farm.

After we left, we headed straight for a cold ice cream treat.  My goodness, that vanilla ice cream with Oreo crumbs sure tasted good!

A Recommendation!

If you have the opportunity to visit Kline Creek Farm, stop by their Visitor Center.  You can purchase honey that the farm makes on site.

The honey is particularly delicious with homemade biscuits.  Okay.  I confess.  On Sunday, I put together a batter of biscuit dough and baked a dozen biscuits until golden brown.  Delicious!
