Author Booksignings
Katherine Greyle’s Passion for Prose Excitement and enthusiasm can be contagious particularly when the author you have come to meet is bubbling over with it. Guests enjoyed listening to Katherine share insights into why she wrote specific scenes and how she crafted each story. Katherine’s admonition is that it takes discipline and commitment to write. Her commitment to the craft was evidenced by the diverse collection of books available for guests to peruse. Katherine’s love of the Regency period is conveyed through her trilogy, "Rules for a Lady, "Major Wyclyff’s Campaign," and "Miss Woodley’s Experiment." She also has ventured into contemporary, fantasy and time travel. The Business of Becoming A Romance Author Katherine was extremely informative when it came to discussing the business of writing. As a seasoned published author, she provided sound advice to writers who are dipping their toes into the romance writing profession. Katherine not only stated the importance of reading and writing but learning the publishing business. Ask yourself, "What is the publisher looking for?" You should become familiar with how a book is processed from inception to the bookstore shelf. Katherine strongly recommended that writers obtain a good agent for representation. Understanding contracts, your rights and working with publishers can be competitive and complex. In her interview with TheRomanticBower.com Katherine stated, "The average writer takes over twelve years to break in. That's a long time of pouring your heart out with no return. But that's when you learn your craft and your business." Katherine encouraged writers to pursue their dream but be smart. Learn your craft and the business of publishing. And, So the Evening Must End "My gosh, it’s already what time?" The evening did pass by much too quickly. One of the nice benefits of attending a booksigning is meeting the author. We get the opportunity to ask questions and inquire about new projects on the horizon. The icing on the cake is receiving an autographed copy of the author’s books. We all know that an author’s autograph makes a book extra special!
