Thought of the Week: March 30, 2003

"Laughing stirs up the blood, expands the chest, electrifies the nerves, clears away the cobwebs from the brain, and gives the whole system a cleansing rehabilitation."
Anonymous

Humor is certainly medicine to the body and soul.  Humor has a way of loosening up strained muscles, opening our minds to fanciful activity, and bringing balance to a life cluttered with distractions.

Humor - A Mood Modifier

If you haven't read a funny book or watched a belly chuckling movie of late, plan to do so next weekend.  Laughing and grinning has a way of lifting even the most downcast or distracted mood.

Did you have a rough day at work?  Are your children leaving you exhausted at the end of the day?  Consider renting Housesitter (Goldie Hawn/Steve Martin) or While You Were Sleeping (Sandra Bullock/Bill Pullman) or other similar light humor/romance movie.  It's a wonderful opportunity to soften your shoulders and take a breathe.

Find Humor in the Everyday

It is amazing the places you can discover humor in your daily life.  Keep your eyes and ears tuned to the amusing, the lighthearted, the ridiculous.  Sometimes, it's nice to notice the silly, cute way a puppy skips along on his walk.

Life is meant to be embraced.  Take a moment and enjoy the lighter side of life.  It will allow you to create a balance to your busy schedule.
