Floors Castle, Scotland

Floors Castle
Kelso, Scottish Borders, Scotland

When we have the chance to visit a castle, we are given the gift of touching the past.  Visitors to Floors Castle have the opportunity to embrace the beauty of the country, the experience of the variety of activities offered, and the history of a family that dates back generations.

Floors Castle was constructed by William Adam in 1721 for the 1st Duke of Roxburghe.  The castle is located near the River Tweed and faces the Cheviot Hills.  Successive generations have left their mark by remodeling and various alterations, which only served to enhance the castle's stately reside.

The Roxburghe Hotel and Golf Course are also located on the Roxburghe Estate.  The hotel contains 24 rooms, all of which were individually designed by the Duchess.

We highly recommend you visit the Floors Castle website at http://www.floorscastle.com.  The site is beautifully designed and contains numerous photographs including castle rooms, the gardens and grounds, information about visiting, and events held at the castle.

A Conversation with Bronwyn Coggan

We invited Bronwyn Coggan, Marketing Manager for Floors Castle, to share some additional information about the beautiful castle located in Kelso, in the Scottish Borders of Scotland.  She mentioned to us that Floors Castle is the largest inhabited house in Scotland and is the home of the Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe.

She provides some marvelous descriptions and, for those of you who have never been to Floors Castle, provides recommendations for first time visitors.
