Theresa Falconetti moves to the city to get away from her big Italian family in Brooklyn. As a partner in a public relations firm, she hobnobs with the rich and famous, but a call from a restaurant owner in her old neighborhood leads her back to her roots. 

Michael Dante, who is co-owner with his brother, Anthony, of the restaurant, is looking to upgrade the image of the family-run establishment.  Mikey D., as he's nicknamed, is also New York's favorite hockey player. A winger on the Stanley Cup-winning New York Blades, Michael fights to keep his position on the team as he fights to win Theresa's heart. But a date gone terribly wrong with another hockey player has left Theresa vulnerable and she won't even consider Michael, who has three strikes against him: he's from Brooklyn, he's Italian and he's a hockey player. 

Can Michael muster all his defenses to melt the ice in the heart of the beautiful Italian girl?
