Early Twentieth Century Ladies

ellen1907.JPG (8773 bytes)There are two things we know about this photograph.  The woman's name was Ellen and the photo was taken in June 1907.  (See below).  Ellen sits patiently with her hands folded in her lap.  Note the watch pinned to her bodice and a string of pearls at her neck.  Again we see the upswept hair coiled on the top of her head.

lady2.JPG (8963 bytes)Notice how this young woman has her hair styled. Her hair is parted in the center and drawn into a high bun on the top of her head.  The fashion of her gown is again high-necked, and the bodice is detailed with lace and numerous small pleats.  She wears a small bracelet on her left forearm which is easily seen due to the elbow length sleeves of the gown.

libbie.jpg (8559 bytes)Libbie was born on July 27, 1872 in a small county in Illinois. Note Libbie's small round spectacles.  Her soft attractive features must have dazzled her future husband, Harry.  You can read about Libbie's life in Libbie: A Voice from the Past.
