Principle #9: What Do I Wear to the Party?

People 345.jpg (13904 bytes)Ladies.

We all wish to feel beautiful, dazzling, and comfortable at the upcoming holiday affairs.  The challenge that many of us encounter is identifying what we are going to do about dressing for the holiday.

We have some suggestions for you to consider.  Whether you are attending an office function with your partner or spending Christmas Eve with your family, you deserve to feel fabulous for the holidays!

Less is More for the Strained Budget

We are recommending this option to those who prefer to stretch your earning dollars.  Take an analysis of what standards are in your closet.  These items may include the basic black velvet slacks, black skirt, creme wool slacks, etc.  Ask yourself this question:  how can I use these in a base outfit and then purchase a sequin jacket, silk blouse or sweater to freshen the look?

Unless you can afford to purchase new outfits, think about how you can mix and match the basics to expand your wardrobe.  You can never go wrong with the basics.  Even new jewelry, shoes and a handbag can revitalize your standbys.

Absolutely Make the Time to Shop!

If you procrastinate and wait until the last minute to shop, you're going to become the "Desperado" shopper.  Desperado shoppers are those shopping on a deadline and either can't find an outfit or purchase their second choice.

Don't become a "Desperado" shopper.  Arrange for a babysitter or bribe your husband with a home cooked meal and plan an outing with your friend, sister, or mother.  Visit your favorite shops and take the time to browse.  Have a back up shopping day ready should you not find what you want.

If you feel beautiful and comfortable in your party clothes, you'll have a more enjoyable time.

The Company Christmas Party

For those who attend a company Christmas party directly afterHousehold 109.jpg (32120 bytes) work, we recommend you take a bag of "freshen up" items with you to work.  Items such as make-up, perfume, and hairspray should be made part of your stash.  Following a long stressful day at work, you'll need it.  Freshening up your make-up, hair and scent will put you in a party frame of mind.

Also think about how you can change your work outfit into a Christmas party outfit.  Consider a rhinestone hair clip, evening jewelry, satin pumps or sandals with your skirt, etc.  Small accessory changes can go a long way in transforming you from an office professional to a Christmas party beauty.

Goal for the Week!

Take the time to think ahead about the upcoming holiday affairs.  Does your wardrobe need updating?  Is it time you purchased a new outfit?  If you take the opportunity to plan ahead, you can sit back and relish this season's Christmas festivities.
