The Writing Craft:
Business Issues for Writers

Bookselling Booksignings

wpe15.jpg (6686 bytes)
Booksignings provide a wide array of opportunities to the author. Booksignings allow you to meet your readers. Booksignings also grant you the occasion to build relationships with booksellers, particularly in your home town. The most important aspect of booksignings, however, is bookselling.

Without a solid stream of book sales, your career is dead in the water.

Selling books is truly a symbiotic relationship between the writer and the reader. Most authors would confess that selling books is not entirely about the money. The truth is that writers have a passion for the process of writing and the craft. Writers live and breathe the chance to write. Readers certainly derive pleasure from reading the books that writers create. Without successful sales, neither group have their needs fulfilled.

There are simple principles that authors can employ to increase the sales of their books. Incorporating these principles into your overall promotion program can help pave the way for a continually successful writing career.

Your Romantic Image: Dressing for Romance
As a romance author, take the opportunity to highlight the romantic side of your personality. One way to do this is to literally dress the part. Create an image of romance and keep the image fresh.
