Thought of the Week: August 4, 2002

"Success is not in the bulk of your wallet,
but in the weight of your character."

Character is essentially the traits that form an individual's nature.  The level of your integrity and moral substance is a part of what makes you uniquely you.

People 058.jpg (25954 bytes)One of the charming elements that make us swoon over our heroes in romance fiction is the trustworthiness and raw bone integrity that the characters possess.  These traits are wonderfully presented in historical heroes, particularly cowboys.  No matter the challenge, the cowboy stands fast to his convictions.  We love it, don't we?

Of course, no better example of strong character is exhibited than those of our heroines.  Whether contemporary, historical, or suspense, our heroines display the same deep conviction to their values and unswerving integrity despite the rising conflict.

We all enjoy a good romance fiction story, but when it comes to "real" life, can we display the grit of character that our heroes and heroines show?  Absolutely yes!  As the statement says, "success is not in the bulk of your wallet, but in the weight of your character."  Money does not make the person - character does.

Each of us have the flame within us to be the person we wish to be.

Goal for the Week!

Consider what positive elements you wish to exhibit in your character.  If there is an area in which you would like to make a change, seek out the information and resources to make it happen.
