Thought of the Week: August 11, 2002

"You must look into people, as well as at them."
Lord Chesterfield

People 647.jpg (74724 bytes)How often have we made judgments about people based on a cursory inspection?  Too often we can fall into the trap of separating those we meet, work with, and interact into neat piles beneath the sign "this group."

We can receive great pleasure from meeting many different types of people from every walk of life.  The gift of open mindedness is one that can not be underestimated.  Each of us is unique in our experience and bring our own perspective of the world.  With such diversity, we as human beings are indeed blessed.

We should relish our differences - embrace our sameness - acknowledge that we are all travelers on the same journey.  Life should be lived to its fullest potential, and we should lift each other to meet our expectations!

Goal for the Week!

When you are introduced to a new person this week, reserve judgment until you have exchanged some conversation.  Endeavor to put aside assumptions until you get beyond the first "hello."
