Romantic Tales - U.S. Civil War

An Introduction:  The U.S. Civil War

Civil War 053.jpg (44409 bytes)The U.S. Civil War took place between the American Union and the eleven seceded Southern states that formed the Confederate States of America.  This significant event in American history took occurred between 1861-1865.  More than 600,000 Americans were killed during the conflict, and interest in the battles, politics and personal stories still resonate through the minds of historians and novice researchers alike.

North and South

The study of the Civil War can take many directions and become an intensive study no matter what area of interest a student pursues in this historical event.  Although the economies, customs, and philosophies of the North and South were markedly different, each side lost a part of themselves.

The men and women who died during this period would never aspire to their dreams.  Families would lose precious loved ones.  Countless generations would be impacted by children that would never be sired.

The nature of the Civil War "remains a subject of disagreement and debate."  The causes, the agendas, the intent, the morale issues have been points of discussion since the war ended.  However, for we students of history, we can learn from the past and endeavor for better understanding of mankind by studying the myriad of topics that surround the Civil War.
