An Evening with
Dyanne Davis & Kelle Z. Riley

Photo Gallery: Kelle & Dyanne

Guests were in for a real treat at Let’s Talk Romance at Borders Books & Music on Wednesday, August 20, 2003. Romance authors Dyanne Davis and Kelle Z. Riley gave a delightful presentation that brought smiles and chuckles to everyone in attendance.

Dreams & Hopes of a Writer

The ladies invited guests to guess what they thought an author’s dreams and hopes were as a writer. With gift bags of goodies for participants, the ideas flowed like water. It was interesting to see the different aspirations that a writer holds dear, at least from the reader’s perspective. The interesting thing is that guests were right!

Here are just some of the hopes and dreams that were highlighted…

Fame

Making the best seller’s list

Book made into a move

Money to write full time

Holding the book in your hand

An Evening of Inspiration

It’s always enjoyable for guests to sit back and listen to the authors discuss a particular topic and talk about their work. Both Dyanne and Kelle were delightfully entertaining and made everyone feel comfortable. We felt as though the authors had invited us into their parlor for an evening of cookies and conversation.

Included in the discussion were a collection of quotations, which were worth writing down. Some were along the lines of "no artist ever retires" (Henry Moore, a sculptor), "like love, fame finds you when you’re not looking" (provided by a guest), and "fake it until you believe it." No matter our profession or dreams in life, a good quote helps keep you motivated!

The Gift Bestowed by Authors

Authors are indeed special people. They take a dab of imagination, a bowl full of writing craft, a sprinkle of romance, and create a story that we readers want to dig into. On behalf of the readers of romance, we thank all of you romance authors for your hard work. We appreciate it!

Happy reading,
