Travel - In Your Backyard

"A Summer Waterfall"
The Morton Arboretum, Lisle, Illinois

Waterfall Wide Shot.jpg (50894 bytes)The day was warm on that July afternoon.  The rays of the sun beat down, but a gentle breeze provided just enough relief to make the afternoon pleasant.

The Morton Arboretum holds so many treasures within the acres of property.  I could spend the entire season exploring the many beauties of this place.

On this particular day, I explored this lovely waterfall beneath the bridge.  Fish, turtles, dragonflies and other insect life flourish.  The sound of the water gently spilling over the edge soothed my soul!   When you take the time to peer close, an entire world opens to you.

I invite you to share my experience at A Summer Waterfall.

A couple took a moment to enjoy the scenery.

Close view of waterfall.jpg (47893 bytes)
It's amazing to see the variety of color within a waterfall.  The foaming white contrasts with the many shades of gray and black.

Leaf in waterfall.jpg (50525 bytes)Hidden within the rush of water was a place of tranquility.  A sunbeam seemed to focus on that very spot!  Note the coins (pennies) to the left of the leaf.  The color of the moss is a marvelous shade of green.

(I leaned over the side of the bridge and used a telephoto lens to snap this photo.)

I liked this photo of another couple overlooking the water (left).  If they looked hard enough, they could see the turtles popping their heads above the water.  The photo on the above right is a lake near the waterfall.  Beautiful, isn't it?
