Quotes & Poetry

Robert Frost

Stopping by Woods
on a Snowy Evening

by Robert Frost

From The Poetry of Robert Frost
edited by Edward Connery Lathem, 1923

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

Robert Frost was born in San Francisco on March 26, 1874.  The passion and gift of his poetry has transcended time.  From the early days of his youth, he wrote poetry.

Frost published his first poem entitled My Butterfly: An Elegy in 1894 in a New York magazine, The Independent.  Robert Frost would be awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his poetry in 1924, 1931, 1937, and 1943.  Throughout the twists and turns of his life, he would embrace and express the world around him in his work.

The gifted Frost passed away on January 29, 1963, bequeathing a legacy of poetry that embodied the experience of his time.
