Thought of the Week: July 7, 2002

People 447.jpg (43153 bytes)"Only the still pool reflects the stars."

Women today are busier than ever.  A Chinese Proverb states "Only the still pool reflects the stars."  If we don't take the time to catch our breath, we can't stop to appreciate the good things that surround us. What can you do to enrich your life when time is such a rare commodity?

Every morning brings us a new opportunity to embrace our romantic journey.  The challenge we face is finding the time to feed our souls.  Whether the responsibilities of family, children, job, community, or church encroach upon your time, it is important to take that moment or two just for yourself.

The "Steal A Moment" Approach to Life
The philosophy you should try is the "steal a moment" approach.

We tend to think, "when I go on vacation I can relax," or "when this project is over I'll take the time...," or "when the kids are in school, I'll..."  This is the wrong thinking!  As you well know, tomorrow always has some other project, problem, or distraction.  When we "steal a moment," it is like a spray of cool water over flowers wilting in the sunshine.

Enjoy watching your kids play.  Talk about your mutual days with your children.  Take a walk in the park with your friend.  The little moments in time are what enhances your romantic journey.

People 456.jpg (43671 bytes)The "steal a moment" approach also applies to the time spent with your spouse or significant other.  You don't have to go away for the weekend to share a thought, concern or simple pleasure.  Our relationships are fuller and more satisfying when we take that moment to connect.

Goal for the Week!

Select three days this week when you will consciously "steal a moment" with your family, friends or partner.  It can be a conversation in the car on the way to your son's softball game, a walk around the block with your daughter, or pillow talk with your partner.

When you "steal a moment," you enrich your life.
