"Home is where the heart is."
The Proverb Where did the proverb, "home is where the heart is" come from? It is believed that Pliny the Elder (A.D. 23-79) made the statement. The first time the saying is referred to in literature is in J.J. McCloskey's book, "Davey Crockett and Other Plays" in 1870. He said, "Well, home, they say, is where the heart is." Hearth & Home When you consider what makes your home a place in your heart, it can be a myriad of things: physical environment of home, history of the house, family, or neighborhood. Whatever emotional ties connect you to your home, it is important to appreciate the positive attributes of our homes. Goal for the Week! Take literally one minute each day this week and say,
"I appreciate (fill in the blank) in my home today." Here is an
example to start you off. "I appreciate the convenience of a hot
shower in the morning in my home today." (Believe it or not, there
are homes that don't have the luxury!) To those of you who camp, isn't the comfort of a bathroom wonderful! The small things are where we find the joy.
