An Eye For Romance There are times when creativity and romance go hand in hand. Fields came up with a clever way of people meeting people. Abigail Pickus did a special to the Chicago Tribune on July 5, 2000 that recounts the success of Fields’ singles party. Using a Polaroid camera, Fields snapped photographs of her customers wearing their new eyeglasses. Placing the photos together as a display, the faces behind the handmade designer frames soon became the attraction in her store. Men were interested in the ladies and vice versa. Fields came upon the idea of inviting customers for an evening of mingling. Approximately forty attendees were provided with an icebreaker questionnaire that encouraged introductions and conversation. Refreshments and music were provided to create a comfortable atmosphere.
