Cathie Linz Cathie enjoys writing Contemporary romance because the characters are "very real to me." You can visit Cathie at www.cathielinz.com
All kinds of things -- music, sweet gestures, chocolate, candlelight. Why do you like reading and writing romance?Because of the optimistic feeling of happy endings. I write romance because it's what I love to read. What do you enjoy about writing Contemporary romance stories? The fact that the characters are very real to me, that they are continuing to live their lives even after I've finished telling their stories. You have written numerous books for the Silhouette Romance line. What makes writing for the Silhouette line unique? Some describe these books as sweet because there are no consummated love scenes without marriage in them, but actually my books are very sensual in the build-up, in the building of sexual tension. Share how you went about the research you did for your Marine books, "Daddy in Dress Blues," "Married to a Marine," and "The Marine and the Princess."In "Married to a Marine," I spoke to a Naperville-area physical therapist for the heroine's background. I also used research on location that I'd gathered from a visit to Fripp Island, off the coast of North Carolina. As for the Marine Corps research, I've read a number of non-fiction reference books, and done research over the internet. What made you decide to use a military profession for the heroes in the above books? Ah, that would be Sgt. Major Robin White's fault. He came to speak to our Windy City Romance Writers group a few years ago about the Marine Corps. After hearing him, I decided that a Marine would make a great hero! We also visited (at his invitation) the Marine Corps Reserve Facility on Foster Avenue in Chicago for more information and research. Tell us about "Married to a Marine." Also, do you have any other projects you are working on? Sometimes you write a book that touches your heart. My September Silhouette Romance "Married to Marine" is one of those books. I was writing this book last September when America discovered thousands of new heroes, people who stepped forward to do what had to be done, no matter the cost. They shrug off any claims of being heroic, and often use humor as a way of making it through tough times. These are the stories that have always compelled me to write, now more than ever. I'm currently working on another US Marine romance for Silhouette. What are your three favorite bookmarks (web sites)?
